The Pixies do play dress up...Asos shoot no:2

So, Asos photo shoot no:2, we meet behind the garages, like naughty kids, (slightly too early on a Sunday morning for our liking...)

The sun is shining, the boxing gym is not yet open (so no audience, for the time being anyway!) We put up our rickety rail, layout our bags full of shoes, jewellery and accessories on the floor and the fun begins! (Not before our rail takes off across the car park...oh so cool!)

We pick our spot in the sun to start shooting, deciding against the garage that has the words, 'Stop pissing here, IT STINKS' sprawled across it, or the wall that's asking the question 'Which Bitch??' as our backdrop! Loving the artistic expression by the way ;)

We've centred this shoot around summery floral prints, soft blouses and floaty midi skirts and dresses, all styled up to create that festival feeling.  We've hardened up summer skirts and had fun mixing prints, styling floral dresses back to animal print accessories - statement sunnies and the 'must have' straw hat.

Four of our faves...

The Floral skirt

We're loving this festival look - We've rocked up a cutsie floral midi skirt with a simple black crop top, killer ankle boots (or wellies!) and chunky jewellery, Bestival here we come!

The Crochet Cardi

This ochre crochet cardi looks amazing with a pair of denim shorts and some bling, we think it would also look great with a floral dress and some chunky wooden jewels - Hippie chic styley... throw yourself back to the 70's (love this photo!)

The Yellow Polka Dot Blouse...

Just simply makes us smile... (and as we also discover, attracts confused bumble bees!)

The Floral Dress

This floral dress has such a beautiful print, so cute and perfect for a sunny afternoon in the park, or the beer garden.

The boxing gym is now open and our changing room/photography studio becomes a car park...time to make a move, we're dying for a cuppa!

Tam you were fabulous, thanks for making our clothes look amazing, pretty sure that was a pigeon in the tree ;)

All our photos from the shoot are on facebook www.facebook.com/pixiesplaydressup and are available to buy on Asos Marketplace https://marketplace.asos.com/boutique/pixiesplaydressup

1 Year On.....

Wedding Dress - Vintage from Vintage Wedding Dress Company

Boots - Vintage
Denim Jacket - Warehouse

The weather is always constant talk of us Brits and no more so than this Summer, where rain is all we seem to be blessed with. Which, in the fashion world, causes great dismay when you have those favourite summer dresses, cutesy sandals, even shorty shorts you are dying to bust out! Well, we have to be clever in how we dress in these supposed summer months as one day is most definitely different to the next, you don't know whether to pack a brollie or don your open toe shoes.

So I wore this floral dress with tights (sigh) and bright boots last weekend when the hubby and I celebrated a whole year of newly wedded bliss. Well I wanted to bring a bit of Summer to our day! And of course I was in cheesy couple bliss, it felt like only yesterday I walked down the aisle and said those magic words. I had to include a photo to share with you all and it was a great excuse to look back and reminisce - so many happy memories!

After much laughing and some welling up reading our guests messages from the wedding day, yes we actually had to wait a whole year to open, not quite sure how I managed to cope....we ventured out to the new David Bailey's East End exhibition, which was so amazing. His photos just blew me away, such history captured on camera - sorry bit of a sucker for a good photo and to see how much/little London has changed over the years! (If you're in London, check it out). Topped the day off with a delicious roast dinner, so we had a very English day it seems!

Guilty Pleasure

I thought I would do a very self indulgent post, this blog is not just about our clothes but everything we love about fashion, style and so on. SO....I thought I would share with you some of my absolutely to die for hero's in fashion. Now this could be a very long blog but I will cherry pick my top, top hero's.

Now we cant deny the influence this person has had on fashion over the years and she definitely flew the flag for women with curves, hoorah I hear you all cheer, well yes, hoorah indeed. She was also the epitome of sexiness and glamour and needs no further introduction - the fabulous Marilyn Monroe. With her blonde curls, amazing waist cinching dresses and oodles of outer confidence (we wont delve into her personal state of confidence, that would be a whole other blog) she, for me, will stand the test of time in the fashion world. Any person that can make a roll neck look good is a winner in my books!!

I suppose this next person is a total contrast to Ms Monroe and again another troubled sole, perhaps there is a pattern with my idols, hmm??
Unfortunately veering on the wrong side of slim, which I for one do not condone, however you cannot deny this woman's sense of style, immaculate from top to toe, pristine in every way - the wonderful Audrey Hepburn. What a fabulous dresser, in addition to being a fab actress, total winner all round really - all hale Audrey!!
For such an elfin look she packed in a lot of attitude, she knew how to work the vulnerable sweet look. Described as a timeless beauty and I have to agree, even by today's standards she has a rocking look that most can only dream of achieving.

This next person is more current, I could pick a million more from the Golden age of Hollywood, but I'll resist the urge to pander to my little obsession with this era.

This person is almost a bit of a girl crush, she's prob not to everybody's taste but I think Chloe Sevigny has an amazing dress sense. I always check what she's wearing at any award shows, she just seems to get it right, edging on the side of quirky but still fashionable. I love a bit of individuality, we're all different so why not express that in how we all dress.

I must confess I'm not a huge fan of commercial fashion, by that I mean the likes of your pop stars and TV reality, they just scream stylist and average at best in my opinion.
Give me a twist on a trend, some altered vintage treasures and back to old school glam and I'm a very happy bunny!!

Well I hope you enjoyed my fashion shares and you have more of an idea of my particular inspirations - everyone is different so feel free to agree or disagree......have an amazing weekend.

Strolling through Amsterdam

Bikes everywhere!!

Yummy Banana & Coconut shots - naughty!!

Bustling markets = happy Pixies!

Oversize 80s Blue Jumper - Vintage / Denim Jacket - Warehouse / Boots - Topshop / Sunglasses H&M

Well a recent trip to Amsterdam turned out to be bit of a wash out but we still perused the streets for a mini culture hit and of course a sneaky bit of vintage thrifting (queue bored hubby!).
The weather put paid to more exciting photos, boo, but here are a few snapshots when the rain had left us alone - briefly.
We found a really cool market which was awash with goodies I didn't know where to start...
Amsterdam is definitely a very pretty city and so wish we could have taken a bike round around the little cobbled streets, oh well next time I'm sure.

A little update on the upcoming boutique, we're in the process of applying for an online boutique via ASOS, almost there now, SO exciting!!

First Event - Barboot

Before the madness began

Busy, Busy

Yours truly.. both in vintage (of course!)

Well our first event got off to a great start, the weather didn't put us or the customer off, I think our gazebo definitely saved the day!
As you can imagine we were both very nervous, scared and excited all rolled into one, its been a long time planning we couldn't believe our first event was upon us so soon. We had some lovely comments from people who visited our stall which has definitely given us confidence to book another event, yes stay tuned for details as we try and get ourselves booked in again.

A huge thanks to all that came to help, support and purchase - we very much appreciate it.
Well the search continues to get some more stock, we have a reputation to uphold now!

Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend
